How to stop a dog from chewing can play a huge part in training Jack Russells. Whether you are just starting to train your puppy or if you have been at it a while, you may be looking for some help. Puppy training can be frustrating when tackled by yourself. Jack Russell Terriers are cute and have a lot of energy. They are a good work dog and can be an excellent family pet as well. Even so, some JRT have problems with their behavior like chewing. If you need to know how to stop dog chewing, Jack Russell training tips may be able to help you: Jack Russell Training

Russells originated in England in the early 19th century and were initially used to hunt red foxes. Because of their training, Jack Russell Terriers generally have high stamina and are very bright. But if JRTs don’t get enough exercise or if they are under stimulated, they are prone to being moody and even destructive. Behavioral issues may need to be address with proper Jack Russell obedience training. Dog training to stop chewing can also help those people who are experiencing dog chewing issues with their Jack Russells.

How to stop a dog from chewing isn’t always as easy as taking them to a class. General obedience training for puppies may be the answer if you dog is also having other obedience issues. Basic training for puppies may not be sufficient if your Jack Russell Terrier’s dog chewing comes from reasons other than basic lack of obedience.

Puppy chewing problems may also be avoided by supplying your dog with lots of games and toys to keep them busy while you’re gone or otherwise engaged. Keeping a Jack Russell busy can be a lot of work. Physical punishment should not be part of any Jack Russell obedience training program. Physical punishment can cause your puppy to be nervous, which can cause more puppy problems. Dog chewing problems with your Jack Russell Terrier should be easy enough to remedy without having to resort to physical violence.
If giving your dog items and tasks to keep it busy still hasn’t rectified your puppy chewing problems, you can also try spraying the items he/she chews on the most with a bitter, sour, or spicy spray. Ask your veterinarian or pet supply store clerk about “no chew” sprays.
