You have just gotten you new puppy home. Dog training is the last thing on your mind. Oh, you know you will have to train your dog to go to the bathroom outside but that is no big deal.
You can clearly see how your life will be know that you have a wonderful dog. You imagine being able to take your dog with you to the park where he can run free and play with you. There will be no need for a leash because your dog will stay right by your side and you will take him where ever you go.
He might even be a best friend to your daughter or son. They will run and play together on hot summer days the way a kid and his best friend are meant to. Life is going to be great!
Then reality sets in.
Your well mannered dog refuses to go to the bathroom outside and thinks your couch is the best place to sleep. He is suddenly to good for dog food and scours the counters for his feast. Your carpet is a digging zone.
Forget that you bought him chew toys and plenty of bones, the arms on your favorite recliner have become the best chew toy in the world. He is constantly barking at everything including his own shadow and your dreams of owning a well behaved dog are vanishing. The constant barking is driving you batty. If you do dog training stop your dog barking is first on the list.
So what in the world do you do know?
Well, getting rid of the horrible dog is not an option because even if you wish it for a second he get the biggest, mournful eyes when he is in trouble. He really loves you and you him.
If only that silly dog would behave (even a little)!
Well the answer to your problem my friend is dog obedience training and I’m not just talking about taking him to a dog training class a handful of times and hoping for the best. Dogs need constant training to get well behaved but it is not as hard to do as you might think.
Dogs are born to please so when you and your dog finally figure out how to communicate to each other and he finally gets what it is that you want him to do he will go out of his way to make you happy.
